Today, I feel more like myself. Over the stomach bug…have been for several days. Got up and got into the gym. When I walked out of the gym, it was so nice outside. Cold, but not too cold. The air was crisp; the sun just starting to color the sky.
So I decided to go for a short run. Slow and easy. I jogged a mile in 10 minutes.
It felt great to be outside and running. My chiropractor recently told me to try this exercise…really more of a technique than exercise…to see if it helps my foot pain while running.
I thought about what she said and even how I run and gave it a try. While my run wasn’t pain-free, it was much better than any of the runs I’ve tried over the past 2 years.
I complained about running often in the Army, and many of those objections are still valid, but I really do love running. It would be wonderful if I could get back to it.
I’m excited to get on with my day after a great morning…not quite a routine (because I haven’t had the discipline for a routine in a while), but it’s a step in the right direction. No matter how insignificant we may think small steps are, the road to success, discipline, and living your purpose is always traveled one step at a time.
So when it comes to chasing your dreams, don’t be in a hurry. You have to go through the process. Patience. Never desiring to skip a step. Walk…don’t run.
No short cuts. No excuses.
Best,
