It’s super fun and exciting to build something from nothing. Seriously, it is! You get a real sense of fulfillment, accomplishment, and satisfaction.
There was nothing here. Now, there’s this.
I’ve built many things in my life, but building a show, a brand, a business, and eventually a multimillion-dollar enterprise with multiple shows, consulting, and coaching services has been one of the wildest rides of my life.
There are so many people shouting you down all the time—doesn’t matter what you’re building. A barber shop, a janitorial service, a media company, or a finance agency…people will hate it for no reason.
Well…there is one reason…
They don’t have anything going for themselves, so they’ll spend their time trashing your dreams because it’s easier than working on their own dreams.
I don’t know why the world is this way. I know it’s always been a haters-filled world, but I don’t know exactly why.
So many people fail and stop trying. Or they are met with another hater and stop fighting. They get a poor customer outcome, a bad interview, or another tech nightmare with the internet company and throw up their hands and quit.
Once you take quitting off the table as an option and forward becomes the only choice, things get better, not worse.
I don’t know why I have the drive I do, but I can tell you this—it still isn’t easy for me. I’m really happy with my podcast’s growth, but I wish it were further along. I wish I had more subscribers.
I wish I had better advertising and sponsor deals. I wish I had more customers and made more money. Right now, I hardly make any money.
But I’m glad to have the supporters I do have. I love the subscribers and followers I have on social media. I’m honored and humbled that thousands of people listen to what my guests and I have to say. I’m proud that I bring some amount of value to so many people whom I’ll never know and who will never make an effort to know me—but they find the relationship that we do has something of value.
As a person, it’s good to be a net positive on society. I’ve given much of my body and my mental and emotional health. Even so, I’m glad I get to give of my mind now.
I don’t know you, the person reading this (or, maybe I do…but I don’t know you read my blog), but I’m grateful for you. There isn’t much I can promise you, but I can promise you this, I won’t quit.
So, whatever you get out of my show, my blog, and my brand, will be there whenever you need it.
Lastly, from the bottom of my heart, thank you for being here.
Best,
